The following “core values” identify what we at CCC care about most deeply. These values flow from our faith in Christ. They motivate and shape our life and ministry.
Grace: God doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves
Grace is the undeserved favor of God and is available to everyone. By God’s grace in Christ we are given new life. By God’s grace we live and grow today. Grace involves God acting in our lives to accomplish what we cannot achieve on our own. With a continual infusion of grace, God causes us to grow in love, joy, peace, generosity, humility and gratitude.
(John 1:14-17, Acts 11:23, Luke 15:11-32, Romans 5:1-3, 6:13-15, 15:7, I Corinthians 15:10, II Corinthians 12:9, Galatians 5:22-26, Ephesians 2:1-10, Hebrews 4:15-16, Revelation 22:21)
Truth: Aligning our lives with reality
Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We acknowledge God’s transcendence and mystery. We encourage dialogue and strive for humility in our quest for truth. We boldly trust that God reveals his truth in Jesus Christ, the Bible and in the world we experience.
(Isaiah 55:8-9, Job 37:5, John 4:23-24, 8:32 & 14:6, I Corinthians 13:12, Colossians 4:3, Ephesians 3:16-19, II Timothy 2:12-13)
Community: Where people count and relationships grow
God created us for relationships. He inspires us to intentionally cultivate community and love. We thrive as we share our laughter and tears, insights and questions and our faith and prayers. By grace we strive to accept one another as Christ has accepted us. When conflict comes, we pursue reconciliation with the biblical priorities of love, humility, integrity and a reconciling spirit. As we share our lives together we experience the presence of Christ.
(Mark 12:28-31, Matthew 18:15-17 & 20, John 13:34-35, John 17, Romans 12:17-21 & 15:5-7, I Peter 4:8, I Corinthians 13 & Matthew 5:23-24)
Growth: Real change for real life
As we become fully alive in Christ, He shapes us in new ways in the very depths of our being. We discover our identity in Christ and everything changes. Everything. We live with a new joy, compelling purpose, courageous perseverance and an eternal hope. Our vision of God, ourselves, people and the world is transformed. Growth is a lifelong adventure. All of this flows from God’s grace in Christ and is guided by His Spirit.
(John 7:37-38, John 20:21, Matthew 5:14-16, Romans 12:1-2, Galatians 4:18, I Timothy 4:7-8, Galatians 5:19-26, Ephesians 4:22-5:2, Colossians 2:6-7 & 3:8-10, II Corinthians 5:17, Genesis 1:26-28, Mark 12:28-31, II Corinthians 5:11-21, Ephesians 2:19-20, Galatians 2:20-21, Revelation 21-22)
Calling: Living beyond ourselves
As we experience new life in Christ we become messengers and servants. We become part of the movement of God in history. We join God in His work in the world today. We share Jesus with others in word and deed. We serve people with faith and joy. Motivated by love, we are called to be the very presence of Jesus in the upper Snoqualmie Valley and a global presence of Christ as he leads us.
(John 1:14-16, Acts 4:32-34, Acts 11:22-24, Matthew 5:14-16, Matthew 25:31-46, II Corinthians 5:11-21 & 12:9, John 13:34-35, Romans 3:23-24, Romans 5:1-2, I Corinthians 5:10, Ephesians 2:1-10, Philippians 4:23, Hebrews 4:15-16, I Peter 1:10-11)
Courage: Living in the freedom of our commitment
Apart from God we can do nothing. With Him the miraculous will be among us. As our courage grows, God leads ordinary people to attempt and do extraordinary things. It is our desire that a humble and courageous trust in God will always be central to our life and ministry together.
